IF ONLY

Fri, 04/10/2020 - 12:01 -- Kin

Not a glimpse nor a single word
Through the whole ride, was ever done and heard
Her eyes bleared and visions blurred
Heart beats rapidly recalling all the high that now were low.
Letting in the sweet breeze of air, she pulled down her window
Tranquilizing her emotions, all memories hid on a shadow.

He braked on the same ol' spot they first kissed.
Where they completely drowned in an abyss--
Of love and overwhelming promise of delightful bliss.
Three, Two.. One.
No one spoke, no one breathed. No one.
As if they're both paralyzed - stunned.

Unbuckling her seatbelt, she broke the deafening silence.
He gave her a look. Sweet. But dense.
She gave him a smile. Tender. But cheerless.
Grabbing her bag, she opened the car and pulled herself out.
She waited for a few, inside, maybe he'll drag her back.
Batted her eyes, tears finally fell down the ground.

One more gaze, then she took her third step forward.
The best thing I could never have.
And the best thing I ever had. Silently, she cried.
Engine silenced and it again caught her to look on what.
He opened his door and he stepped out.
Rushing to her, arms wide open. Again, melted her heart.

Back to him, they grabbed each other as they came to a tight hug.
Lifted her face, her tears, he carefully dried.
All of the pain gone when they both smiled.
He pulled her tighter as he slowly leaned for a kiss.
She tiptoed higher meeting his irresistible lips.
If only things aren't complicated, we wouldn't boil down to this...
