If Love is Lonely

You’re not one to smile with praise,

So I settle for your melancholy gaze.

It’s through your ocean eyes I wade,

but as the years go on they seem to fade.

At this point I need to say what I must say,

Now its just a matter of finding a way.

I love your wicked smile,

Though I haven’t seen it in a while.

And I love it when you make me laugh,

though all your jokes have turned so daft.

So I try to say “I love you”,

but knowing where we are, I’m not so sure its true.

I was once told long ago,

”If love is lonely, let it go.”.

But all I need to hear from you is, “No.”
