Identity

What determines my identity?

Is it my skin?

Is it what it says on my ID?

Or who I chose to be my friend?

Do stereotypes determine my identity?

Am I branded by what name Society gave me,

Am I cattle waiting to brand by society,

Nay it is me, myself and I define who I am,

Truth or dare they say,

Well I dare to be different,

Let them ponder why you choose to be different,

And awe with admiration for your courage,

Now I say again what determines my identity?

It’s your actions, lifestyle, friends and your family,

The most important essential necessitates that determines who you are.

Who you’ll become or strive to become,

They are the blueprint of your identity,

You hold the schematics of it,

And only you can control how you’ll construct it.
