Eats away at my thoughts.

Mere mention of it
Immerses my mind in wonder
For I do not know

What it means to love
Or who I want to love
Or what love feels like, for that matter

Is it torrid, like standing
On the rim of a volcano
As it erupts?

Does it cut to the bone
Like a brisk icy wind
When you forget a coat?

Does it surround one’s heart
Like a warm breeze does
On a cool spring day?

Does it fill you like
The smell of fallen leaves
On a brisk autumn morning?

I wish to understand – no,
To experience
The meaning of the word
