I Need A Moment

Do my ears deceive me, or is that the startling sound of the tardy bell?

Slipping into class like a slippery snake, but I catch the teacher’s eye. Damn it to hell!!

Ms. Brown do you know you are late to class.

Well, I’m pretty bright so, yes, I know that.

But did you know that you are a pain in my ass?

I dread your lecture, I hate your voice.

But I need this class so I guess I don’t have a choice.

You make us study for standardized tests,

That really don’t mean shit and get mad when we don’t do our best (according to you)

The efforts that you put into making us better testers

Should be put into teaching us about taxes and other life lessons.

But for now you will look into the sea of lost and bored souls

Thinking that what you’re doing gives you a crown made of gold.

When really we all know, that you hate your job.

You don’t get paid enough and the students work you too damn hard.

But while you teach I will continue to learn.

Because, although you may not see it,

Knowledge is what I yearn.
