I Love You

I love you

I love you, I love you, I love you

For some of us this word means nothing but to some of it means everything

I love you, I told my momma every morning: momma I love you

I love you, I told my papa: papa I love you

why did I love them?

They gave me life and Im supposed to love them

but how do I tell that when they say I love you

it doesn't mean as much anymore

I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you

you see when you say something too many times

you forget what it means

but what if I took away i from the equation

it is no longer a profession of love

more like a question

momma I love you

love you too

papa I love you

love you too

when you didn't put the i in front of the love

you took away what I thought mattered most because who did you love, if it wasn't I

with that one word you took away familiarity, my safety net

so when you felt it wasn't important to put the I in front of l o v e y o u

I chose to take away your comfort from the statement of return

I love you too

becuase if you cant take the time for I

I cannot take the time to comfort you with an

I love you too.
