I Hope

Location

Walking in the streets is something I rarely do

There is no way to know whether the next kid shot will be you

Instead I travel in silence from home to school

Quiet mouse in the corner

Sometimes hoping to disappear

But holding on to the hope I see here

Faith in the glimpses of joy

A secret proud smile of the boy,

Whom sagged,cursed and played,

When he looks at his letter grade A

Quiet mouse in the corner

Sometimes hoping to disappear

But holding on to the hope I see here

That final straw is reached

The girl stands from her seat

Startled teacher retreats

"Give me the chalk, y'all see"

And the ghetto, smart mouth girl proceeds

To give us what the right answer shall be

Quiet mouse in the corner

Sometimes hoping to disappear

But holding on to the hope I see here

Class in a riot, noise to the extreme

But do not be quick to judge

In fact, let us take a walk

And you will here

heated discussions,

on whether the answer is 8.254 or 9.58

Quiet mouse in the corner

Sometimes hoping to disappear

But holding on to the hope I see here

You CAN Do it! You can do it

We've been told since pre k

Over years of experience

I have learned, yes we can.

But WILL we?

Quiet mouse in the corner

Sometimes hoping to disappear

But holding on to the hope I see here

Hoping one day faith will take part of this game
