As I Fled From Home

Run, run, run away

Run 'til you reach a brand new day

Far from the prison you call your home

Where fists and screams have broken your bones

Cry, cry, cry away

Cry 'til you run out of words to say

Drain your body from all the tears

Don't let it be buried under all that fear

Scream, scream, scream away

Scream to those who has to pay

The monster in your house isn't dying soon

So close your eyes and hear them croon

Fight, fight, fight away

Fight until your body lays

Down on the ground of your kitchen floor

As the bruises on your body keeps adding more

Win, win, win away

Win 'til the monsters are of nay

Leave the terror in your home

And go on and face the world alone

Forget about the time when you were beat

With the slaps and the kicks and all those hits

By the people who were supposed to love you most

Who said that your life has a cost

Do not remember when you were mocked

Or the space in the closet where you were locked

It was dark, you remember, and you could not see

That it was pointless to try and escape free

Do not dwell on the time your parents were

Acting like their love was so, so pure

Take my advice and now go flee

Lonely, but happy, you will be

My family
