I Cry When My Heroes Die

I cried when

The Black Panther

Died in Infinity

War.

I cried even

More when

Chadwick was

Pronounced ‘’gone.’’

I shot my

Make believe

Basket into

The trash can

And yelled,

‘’Kobe!!!’’ with

All that I

Had in my

Lungs when I

Heard his

Helicopter went

Down.

I listened to

DMX’s prayer

When I heard he

Had gone to

Meet God.

A tear trickled

Down my face.

Damn. They ran

The race.

Battled

Addiction,

Cancer,

&

Shoulder

Unbelievable

Responsibility.

I forget that

None of us

Are eternal.

I look my

Mortality in

Its eyes when

My heroes

Die.

Time does

Not stop.

I know that!

Life goes on.

I know that!

I wish that

We had more

Time.

More time to

Love.

More time to

Learn.

More time to

Laugh.

More time to

Forgive.

More time to

Grow.

More time to

Slow down

And appreciate

The simplicities.

The acidity in

Our coffee.

More time in

Our favorite

Tees.

More time

Bumping our

Favorite songs.

More time in

Love.

We do not

Have forever.

Live a life

Well lived.

Peace out to

Our beloved heroes.
