I could write...
I could write
And I could try to woo you with words
And like lions to the herds
I could chase you down
With feeble thoughts
And beautiful verbs
Without being taught
Trying to move your heart
With the things I say
Each and every
Single day
Unsparingly
Yet I shall remain
Constant in what I say
In what I think and what I pray
Without attempting to make you sway
Cause really these are just words on a electronic page
And unless they reflect how I am to you
Regard them as nothing other than a made up point of view
Spit them out, there's no need to chew
The taste will leave you to only rue
If they are unfaithful to my heart and yours
Without starting peaceful enduring wars
The sort of kind that opens the pores of the heart to draw in the essence of the other
Remember you are to be my sister and I your brother
So in this tender stage
Like cheese and grapes
We must let this age
Before we taste of anything sweet
For bitterness will only greet
The aftertaste of impatience
But for now let this be like
Water to the Haitians
Without intentions "romantically"
Whatever that is supposed to mean
Because I would hope that you see exactly what I mean
Like when you clarify what I misperceive
Or when I stumble over words I've weaved and mixed with rushing thoughts and a flowing conscious
Gosh, even the structure of this poem is absurd and cautious
But what I said I'll repeat
Because in this seat it makes sense, but perhaps not in yours
I don't think I should use this now as a way to ensure your affections or rather use them as a medium to point you to me
That would be too easy
Perhaps later on it can compliment a song of relationship if we have one together
If the Lord has decided this is something He never shall sever
Then maybe then I'll write and give poems to you as they come
But I can't with confidence fulfill that idea until I sense this car's engine is ready to hum as it is ready to run collecting the sum of endurance and patience sweet
To that thought and to that time I'll greet
But only when and not until this song makes a beat
