How Did I Not See
Locations
How did we not notice?
In everything she said,
Each and every word
Accompanied by dread
She began one day to draw away
And no one seemed to care
If any had given a d**n
Perhaps she would still be here
I should have known
I should have seen
In an open casket
Her body now lies
And even the thick makeup
Cannot cover the scars
How long had she been hurting
How long should I have seen
That each word unspoken
Was one more reason not to care
God help us
All who cannot see
And let not one more child
Be taken in by the blade
Now it is too late
To tell her that I cared
But perhaps not too late for you
Let not your silence be the voice
That does speak for you
