for holly

Mon, 11/18/2024 - 21:05 -- row one

can i lay my head on your shoulder?

or will my skin melt into the sinews and veins until we are one,

connected by flesh and blood,

living and breathing and laughing all as one being?

if my hand presses to your chest

perhaps it will just sink in

and grab your still-beating heart,

since i know the rhythms and drumbeats of it so well already.

and when i take your leg to wrap around my own,

can i lay my head on your shoulder?

or will my skin melt into the sinews and veins until we are one,

connected by flesh and blood,

living and breathing and laughing all as one being?

if my hand presses to your chest

perhaps it will just sink in

and grab your still-beating heart,

since i know the rhythms and drumbeats of it so well already.

and when i take your leg to wrap around my own,
