Heroes

Heroes don’t have to have “super powers.”

Heroes can be normal people,

Just like You and I

A hero can be a police officer or a fire fighter,

Or even a cancer survivor

Who was told they might die.

Cancer can strike at any moment.

It doesn’t discriminate

Based on race, gender, or wealth.

Cancer effects people of all ages.

It can cripple the young

And harm the old.

On September 3, 1999,

My life changed forever.

I was diagnosed with cancer.

I am a hero,

Just like so many other fighters.

The ones who lost, and the ones who won.
