It's not easy
Having heart attacks everyday.
The palpitations are palpable
Through this heaving chest.
This chest. This wooden trunk
Creaks open with every throb,
Elaborate
with the lines of age.
Elaborate,
i beg, knowing all too well that this will only
add insult to injury,
Condemning me the masochistic girl
As this tearing tissue tears again.
And these eyes tear again.
And i realize
That even as it is ripped out of me,
This phantom percussionist keeps time.
Waiting for you to return.
Waiting for you to piece it back together.
