A leather spine.
Sewn paper that has changed over time
A spoken line
Written on the pages to forever capture its sound
An open book
The words splattered across the page
A secret look
The cool kid peaks, hoping no one sees
A moment in time
Life goes on, year by year
An unspoken crime
A books obsession secret is released
A silent room
People leave not noticing life outside their own
An unspoken gloom
Some child sits alone in the back
A random speech
The lonely one runs into someone new
A chance to reach
The child is shy, clinging to a book for dear life
A feeling of shame
The stranger sits with the child
No mention of a name
The stranger asks the child who he is
The silent talk
The child says nothing, too late to socially secede
The smell of chalk
He continues on his chalkboard, writing small wavy lines
The last question
Stranger asks "what book ya got there?" happy to see peoples imagination freed
The odd obsession
The same book that changed his life, the child says, “I don’t know, I can’t read.”
