Haiti, The Decisive Battle Of Vertières

Haiti, Haiti, Haiti, the Land of Martyrs

Haiti, Haiti, the Land of Great Slaves
Haiti, Haiti, the Land of Ancient Braves
The Oasis that the evil monsters want to betray.

Haiti, Haiti, the ashy volcanic Land of Fire
Haiti, Haiti, the Land of Formidable Fighters
Oh! Brave Blacks have defended the sacred turf
With ardor, gusto, enthusiasm, and extreme pride.

Haiti, Haiti, the cowards want to sell you at low prices
Haiti, Haiti, the so-called officials have offered your head
To the evil settlers. Haiti, the land that her sons have betrayed
Haiti, Haiti, the Land, the Country which will never see defeat.

Comrades, Soldiers, Peasants, it's with your soul and blood
That you shall defend the fibers of the national colors
It is with your heart that you shall cross the screen
Infested with hypocrites. Haiti, Haiti, the Native Land.

The battle of Vertières will continue for a long time
Until the Haitian people will stop hurting and suffering
Until they stop looting and killing our innocent peasants
Until the dawn of the last spring, until the end of time.

Haiti, Haiti, Haiti, the Land of Illustrious and Brave Ancestors
Haiti, Haiti, the Land of Great Heroes, the country of Toussaint
The Land of Dessalines and Capois. The Angels and the Saints
Will come to protect you. Haiti, you’re forever your sole Master.
