Guardian Angel

We grew up on the countryside

My brother and I

We were just two kids

Who had a real tough life

We had to learn how to cope

With our family war

Our mom and dad were always fighting

Trying to even out the score

When our father’s fist would

Rip through our mother’s skin

We’d hide out in my brother’s room

I’d be crying on his shoulder

And he’d wrap me in his arms

Yeah, even when I felt alone

He was always there

I want to thank you

For being my guardian angel

You were never misleading

Didn’t need me to even say a word

You knew when I was hurt

You helped my heart stop bleeding

You are the reason

My life is worth living

Don’t know where I’d be

If I didn’t have you to comfort me

You will always be

My guardian angel

On the day our dad passed away

I didn’t know what to say

While my brother cried for days

We had to learn to cope

Being completely alone

Our mom soon remarried

But our lives still got worse

Fore he got our mom into a horrible addiction

So my brother and I

We only had each other

And when I couldn’t help but cry

You were always there

When our mom started to get better

My brother and I

Hoped that everything would be alright

But when our mom divorced again

I swore I’d never let myself love again

He was the closest person that I had ever had

To being a dad

My brother was my savor

He helped me overcome my fear

Of being alone

You were always there

I don’t know how you

Remained so strong

But I thank the heavens that you did

Cause Lord only knows

Where I’d be if I never let you in

You were my savor

My grace, cause you never turned away

You were always there

My guardian angel

You’ll always be my guardian angel
