Good Morning
Every morning
You ask me how I’ve slept
And every morning
I lie
Because how can I say
That last night
I held you on a bloody battlefield
And felt the familiar beating of your heart
Stop under my palm
How can I say
That I woke like a gunshot
Covered in sweat and tears
And vomited
At three o’clock in the morning
How can I say
I saw you die last night
And I couldn’t save you
The army
Has always been your dream
And now
It has become mine

I think this is beautiful and I find it very easy to understand because my very close friend is in the same situation and has come to me to talk to and it is truly a sensitive topic. Very beautiful.
