For Girls And Boys

"Pink is for girls!"

Oh but a boy might love pink

A boy might adore the color and yet claim his favorite is blue

A girl might despise the color with all her heart

And yet, it is a girl color, is it not?

"Blue is for boys!"

Oh, but blue is such a lovely color

A girl might adore the deep, calming shade

A boy might perfer the lighter hues of pink or purple

But blue is a boy's color, don't you think?

"Girls belong in the kitchen!"

Oh, but I have no knack for it.

A boy might wish to learn to cook

A girl might look at a stove with anxiety and distaste

But, a women should always cook for her family, no?

"A man's job is to bring home the bacon!"

Oh, but isn't that so old fashioned?

Can a woman not work and provide?

A man might wish to bring up the children

But that is so very preverse, isn't it?

"Girl's should be dainty!"

Oh but I have a fire burning within my soul!

A woman might rage against the thought of delicacy

Should a man not be a bit delicate?

But please, forgive me if that seems wrong

"A man must not cry!"

Why of course not, for they are not human, correct?

A man must be strong enough to control any and all emotions, no?

A man might believe his feelings should be displayed, no matter how emotional he might seem

But, oh no, that musn't be correct.

Colors are not biased.

Occupations must not be biased.

Emotions shall not be biased.

Should we not all be granted the right to choose despite our sex?

But, no, it seems I must be wrong.
