The girl who fakes

Fri, 07/18/2014 - 11:29 -- Eunoia
Standing tall

She pokes her chin out

while others slump,

tiered

she,

 white,

 high class,

 smart,

educated,

 talented

while the rest sit below with unpaid debts

never seen never heard

their talent never shown to the light

Enough.

Those who conceal their emotions

those who master disguise

wrap themselves to feel safe inside

they don't try to give away the pain they felt from criticism

But they do

Their face reflects blank like a page

with no words nor colors nor sounds,

only touch and light can you see

They probably have no means to judge

But every human seeks perfection lost in the crowd

I do not want to feel the coldness that slips down my throat

To her, you are a child playing games

but not someone who deserves a smile

That one little mistake can earn you a penalty to jail

while she sits, as if flawless

She smiles

She laughs

but if she listens to the heart beyond the words

perhaps

she can say

a bit more

Her face is just blank,

listening

concentrating

looking for the errors

looking for the doubt

but not seeing

but not feeling

that is

 what hurts most

never

being able to touch someone

never being able to affect someone with your words

like she can't hear the voice that is crying to be heard

like the only story she knows

is her story

she has her way

as she wants

Because when I smiled

She didn't smile back.
