Ghosts

I take a walk around my neighborhood

I see the houses and dogs and people

I also see a tree in each yard

Suddenly the houses disappear

The people and the dogs are gone

I am on top of a large hill

I see trees for miles

There are many hills all around me

I see a beautiful lake

The water is so clear that I can see the bottom

As I look at the lake a rabbit comes as sits by my feet

I look at it is surprise because I have never seen one in person

I pick up the little guy

His eyes look as if they can see right through me

Our stare breaks when another animal approaches

Then another

Pretty soon I am surrounded by many animals

Animals I have only seen in books and heard about

I turn my head and see one of the trees that are in each yard at my neighborhood

When I blink

I see the houses and people again

I am confused at what has happened

I look around and realize that I am on a hill

Houses are what I see for miles all around me

I then realize that I saw what the world was like before construction

My heart begans to ache

The animals are gone the trees are scarce

I look at the lone tree that is in every yard

They will always remind me of what use to be

They will be the ghosts of the animals and trees that are no more
