Freedom IS costly

Freedom IS costly
Costly?
The lives that were Volunteered,
made freedom costly
The lives that were damaged beyond Repair,
made freedom costly
The urge to hold the family Dear,
made freedom costly
The different texture of Hair,
made freedom costly
The Jim Crow burdens we Beared,
made freedom costly
The chains we Shared,
made freedom costly
Those horrible lynchings so Near,
made freedom costly
The sounds of pain little children had to Hear,
made freedom costly
The separation line so Clear,
made freedom costly
The overwhelming need to overcome we Shared,
made freedom costly
But Civil Rights upheld without Fear,
Proved freedom costly
"Let Freedom Ring" showed the Care,
Proved freedom costly
Changed the world for the better; dried those Tears,
Proved freedom costly.
Costly?
Yes, Freedom IS Costly.
