Four Seasons

As summer gave way to fall

it revealed the bare – boned beauty of it all

Leaves began to change, trees thin and tall

Earth's boundless beauty only to freeze and thaw

The winter came, harsh and brutal

Mountain peaks lined with snow

Nature's fight was futile

But soon would gain the upper hand,

sure but slow

Spring appeared quite suddenly

The birds chirped and flew

Earth had once again revealed its bounty

The seasons continued through

Summer appeared, brisk and hot

Cicadas called in the day, fireflies played at night

Children tried, but the lightning bugs remained uncaught

Leaving them to fly up high, and keep the sky alight

As summer cooled, autumn caught up

Children began to play more indoor

The wind, through the trees, the leaves to stir

And the Earth went in the cycle once more.
