He said that he was ready, he said now's the time to go
She was hesitant to answer, she was only twelve years old
But Puppy Love is blinding and her future was unclear
So they went ahead, laid in bed and shared their naive fears

But life moves along, time always passes by
With secrets on a dusty road, her footprints left behind

She met her new love at 18, they bonded while they were drinking
He had experience, he was moving to a new apartment
Gave her a copy of his key, this must have been how true love felt
He said that he could use her help, but he used her for something else

But life moves along, time always passes by
With secrets on a dusty road, her footprints left behind

She met a man at 21, he took her to a party
He said "try this drug, its really cool", he thought it would be funny
Then she felt a little dizzy, And she fell to the floor
And woke up a day later, behind his bedroom door

But life moves along, time always passes by
With secrets on a dusty road, her footprints left behind

A couple years have passed by, this girl is turning 30
Her body is a rag, her soles are rough and dirty
She carries a heavy heart, she's forgotten where shes from
Her teeth have fallen out, gums stained with lies and rum

Her life is done, No more time passes by
No more secrets on a dusty road, No footprints left behind

She's got soars on her mouth, shes got pain in her heart
She wants to try a new life now, but forgot where to start
So she lays down on that road, dries her tears with the sun rays
A moment of silence for the girl who's met her days
