The First Snow

Location

The snow sprinkles down,

It clumps together,

And waits for its friends to arrive.

I, too, wait,

For something to do,

In attempts to pass the time.

My boyfriend shovels

The new fallen snow,

His boots crunching away.

He suddenly stops,

And gazes at me,

As if having something to say.

I wave shyly back,

Hot cocoa in hand,

And ask if he needs a break.

He shakes his head no,

And says “It’s not cold”

And sticks his tongue out for snowflakes.

I giggle at him,

And he starts to grin,

And beckons to do as he does.

So I tilt my head back,

Tongue out, eyes relaxed,

And finally start to have fun.
