Fine

The birds fly away

Soaring softly on the wind

But here I am I cannot run

I am afraid and I have to smile

Someone else has it worse

Someone else is crying harder

Someone somewhere is hurting more

Someone’s bruises show

Have you ever looked at me

Have you ever seen anything

To suggest anything

Ah but no, no one has

There’s nothing going on behind the scenes

No one here is hiding anything from you

I don’t ever need to cry or scream

I’m not in pain, I’m just smiling hollowly

Take off the mask that you wear

But I’ll leave mine on

I want to see you for you

But I can tell you now, you don’t want to know
