Finch

I'm going to spread my wings someday

I'm going to stop apologizing for wanting a life of my own

Watch me take to the sky and fly far away

I'm not afraid anymore, not scared - I'm not going all alone

I have people who really want me to thrive, to grow

People who will help me in the right way

My wings are being trimmed, feather by feather, slow

They want to keep me here, want me to stay

I am not going to be sucked back in and tied down

I am not letting you have your way

I'm getting out, I'm leaving this town

I'm going to spread my wings someday

This poem is about:
Me
My family
