Familiar scent

Walking through the halls one day,

Past my baby brother wanting to play,

I stopped when i smelt a familiar scent,

One i swear was heaven sent,

I opened the door to my mothers room,

The tears did fall without a clue,

That night i lost my mother so dear,

Entering this room was what i did fear,

I gathered my courage and stepped right in,

All at once i felt like i sinned,

But following the scent right beside the bed,

I apologized for my mothers dead,

I found a music box and opened it slowly,

There i found something glowing,

I stopped and stared at a bottle of perfume,

I sprayed it once and a scent filled the whole room,

And all at once i heard a voice,

Like my mother saying, “Good choice”,

I turned around and there i saw,

My mother's spirit standing tall,

“All i want or have to say,

I’m proud of you my daughter, every single day.”

As tears then poured from my eyes,

And all i did was sob and cry,

My mother kissed my head gently,

All the pain disappeared and felt her love of plenty,

She said goodbye,

To stop the cry i tried,

Three years later i still hold her perfume close,

For i know she loves me the most,

Such a lovely familiar scent,

Which had always been heaven sent,

I love my mother till the day i die,

I promise you this, I'll always try.
