On the Expanse of Outer Space

On The Expanse of Outer Space

The night is cold and fair

The light shines bold in air

Reflected on

The frozen pond

The moon looks from its lair.

The breath streams fresh and new

Clear dreams enmeshed in dew

They cannot find

My clouded mind

So now they come for you.

Climb up that ice’d tree

Up to what lies beyond

The chill so deep

The slope so steep

The domed crystal sea.

Such beauty as is there

Our duty is to share

So now I write

Of that bright light

The night moon’s frosty lair.
