Everyday A Child Is Taken

Everyday a child is born,

and everyday a child is taken.

Whether it's from white on black,

or black on black,

a child is taken.

Everyday a child is taken.

We are no longer safe in our own homes.

I guess they figured that black figures could never,

get off the ground like shadows,

so the strive to make us feel less than and alone.

Everyday a child is taken.

It's time we end this cycle.

Where we put down one another,

in hope of getting higher than the other.

My beautiful black brothers and sisters,

it's time we come together and take back our home.

Everyday a child is taken.

They want us to feel afraid,

but I was raised to believe that this land is our land,

so this country here is where my head will stay laid!

Everyday a child is taken.

As miserable as this phrase may be,

we must keep fighting no matter what,

for nothing less than equality.
