Every Time a Woman Speaks

Quiet down, love.

We know this is your passion

and you stared this whole row

but, darling, if you could,

just keep it down right now.

Sweetheart, sweetheart, please,

you make a fool out of yourself!

Speaking on these matters that

you know nothing about.

Stick to what you're best at

and leave the rest to us.

It'd go along much smoother

if you didn't make a fuss.

Here, I'll take the mic.

From now on, I'll run the show.

My collegue cannot to prove

what she says she knows.

I know it must be hard

as you're fighting opposition

when the men who stand behind you

push you back into the kitchen.

They cannot make it obvious,

lest their voters see,

but in these halls it's all too clear

how little women mean.

They want you out the way, you see,

trust that I see it too.

But that's just the way your life will work;

it's best I handle this for you.
