Eulogy of Mike the Tadpole

Your life was rather short little tadpole

And you never got to hop

Your little legs seemed to

Whisper of the dreams

You might have had

Swimming around in your

Plastic tank in the garage

You were my little brother’s delight

He was fascinated by you

And you seemed to love the lettuce

That he gently tossed to you

You lived in the pond water

That we carried to your tank

It made your home look dirty though

And I promise that my little brothers

Were only trying to help

When they dumped the dish soap

Into your murky home

They couldn’t understand

Why the dish soap made you go

They felt bad about it really

And they sat by you to the last

So now we say goodbye to you

Here as we bury you in the yard

We’ll place a painted rock

On the spot where now you rest

In remembrance of you our little friend

With little baby legs full of dreams
