A Eulogy for the Kind Man

Mon, 11/04/2019 - 16:54 -- dowxbeg

There's nothing weak

about honor.

It is a strength to act

with compassion

                 compromise

                            and humility.

He was a warmer God.

He complimented everyone,

transforming the places

he went.

A man like him judged no one,

and when he spoke

there was no guilt

only

respect and dignity

he was a gentle tone

disarming humor

integrity

he was

a giant of history.

A fallen folk hero

In the ashes of his former self

he stands; taking in the world around him

With new eyes

Seeing things in a new light

Snarling at the new world he sees.

We weep for him

Longing for the way things were:

He was

            a great man.

He was

            the best of us.

What have we done to him?
