Escape

Eyes swollen with sorrow and unshed tears,

Burning for being open too long.

A body that weighs a thousand pounds,

Screaming in protest from running.

To the ocean rationalizes the mind,

The cure to all pain and melancholy.

My body crumbles to the shoreline

Salt water gently pools around my bones.

Rest says the heart, but the head spins,

Causing anguish and torment as it goes.
