Empower

Empower

Noun

To give authority or power to

To enable

From the honey melon of my skin

To the natural curl of my hair

I am black unapologetically and I wear my proudness bare

Let's empower our brothers and sisters

Encourage them

My family of brothers and sisters are worth more than the credit we're giving for

Because we are kings and queens

Royalty runs deep down in our core

Let our sisters know it's okay to wear your hair wild and course

Let our brothers know you don't have to be in a gang to be apart of a family

That you don't have to hustle to make a living

Over time we don't dry up like a raisin  in the sun

Let the community know we are just as importnat as any other

We're infinitely ageless, our beautys end is none

Let them know that black empowerment isn't a solution just a step towards it

The word black was used to downgrade us but black is the color of coal

They were little minded and didn't realize that substance is worth as much as gold

I embrace my soulful blackness and theres no regretting it

I mean our color comes from the sun

There's no denying that we lit
