Where you went to class in the past determines your future social class
The education gap is like a trap for deprived kids over the map
Lack of education is an indication of supposed indignation
Kids can’t achieve their dreams because they lack esteem
They want to be scholarly but suffer from poverty
They long for college but believe they don’t have the knowledge

A zip code is an obstacle that prevents success
Nevertheless, if your effort is excess then you will progress
Even though the rich oppress the poor by saying
“McDonald’s food won’t serve itself”
They think we’re just “the help”
Ding! Your order’s here
They think we can’t get real careers
Even though we had to work for all we got
The best education should not have to be bought

Imagine this: Everyone living in bliss
While they reminisce growing up with a good education
Men in fancy suits lookin’ like John McCain sippin’ on champagne
Chasing after the American dream
But we can’t all be on the same team

Snap! Back to reality
The monstrosity of poverty will swallow you whole
And then you feel as if you can’t reach your goals
They say “Climb back into that rabbit hole of which you call home”
But they don’t have all control even if they try to console
They say they ruined our goals but
It’s us they should start to extol
Because on them, I’m takin’ a toll
