Easy "A", But I Want A Challenge

The first day of school was fun

Other classes turned in book reports, but we did none

We got to know you and you seemed pretty cool

It was probably the best class offered at the school

You’re young and so new at this

We were fine with that because you never gave a quiz

But now I kind of want to learn

The “A” I have, I should’ve earned

We do nothing here but sit at our desks

Is it too much to ask for just one simple test?

I want to know things; I want to better myself

The textbook I got on the first day sits home on my shelf

My notebook is empty, not a single note anywhere

My parents pay for an education, it’s just not fair

It’s fine to do this for a few short weeks

But it’s December now. So, move your feet.

I heard the other class is learning about William Shakespeare

We should have a sign on the door that reads “nothing going on in here”

I know the doodles on my desk more than I know British Lit

If my parents found out, they’d have a fit

I don’t need a lot, just enough to stimulate my mind

Compared to the other class, we’re way behind

So please, teacher, just give us something

I need to get my brain pumping

I swear by now, I’m in a vegetative state

I doubt we’ll learn anything by the time I graduate
