Dreams End Too

Location

I miss the way you made me feel

Like all the world was so surreal.

We’d hug and laugh, and cry and frown

You turned my world upside down.

And here we are 3 years down the road

Your kiss is warm, but my heart stays cold

You still manage to make me laugh

That’s a matter of the truest fact

You’ve always been my best friend,

But I feel our love has met its end.

We’ve changed so much, it’s just expected.

Over the year, we somehow disconnected.

We’ve both grown, and become better

Yet maybe we’re not meant to be together

I want to go out and find myself

And put those feelings on a shelf

Keep them forever in a jar

And take them down when you feel far

You want me to be your forever

I’m scared that it’s a pointless endeavor.

What if you find the girl of your dreams

While I was chasing away Prince Charming?

And then when you come home

I’m the one that’s left alone?

I want to find out

What life’s all about.

I want to learn and think and grow

But if you’re here I’ll never know

Who I am when you’re gone

And that it’s me I need to count on.

I can’t help but feel that it’s not me

Who’ll be getting your engagement ring

So why go and break my own heart,

When right now, I could get my fresh start?

I miss the way I used to feel

When everything was so surreal

My life was a dream,

A romantic scene

But then we grew up and knew

That even our favorite dreams end too.
