dream your dreams

dreams

are at the very seams

of who i am

i imagine what i want

and i make it real

i can feel

what i’ve sown in my mind

i’ve reaped every thought

i could find

i could build a nation

of my creations

the power of the brain

never ceases to amaze

and confound

i make sounds

in an order never heard before

and i pour

out myself

into words, into phrases

no one has created through the ages

i make something new

something real

why don’t we make a big deal

of the songs that we write

and the pictures that we draw

each flaw

is our own

no one has ever known

our pain

our strength

our love and above all else

our dreams

we can create ourselves

from the plans in our head

and all the words unsaid

we are defined

by who we want ourselves to be

and all we do to achieve

our goals

our life as a whole

should inspire

we are wired to create

so spend your life trying to make

something new

and define who you want to be

and find your means

in the dreams that you dream

because life isn’t how it seems

it’s what you make it out to be
