Don't Give Up on Me

When you sit in your seat what do you see first?

The notes on the board, the teacher, the clock?

I see judgement, I see tears, I see the below average grade that tells me I am incapable of success.

My grades misrepresent the student that I am, yet the teacher treats me as my grade.

I am more than my grades, I am more than my GPA.

I am a hardworking student, I am your student.

The student that is struggling, but recieves no help to improve.

The student that recieves no encouragement, but instead looks of disappointment.

The student that needs more than a teacher, but a teacher who will understand.

Understand that I am no genius, no scientist, no professor,

I am in school to fill my brain with the knowledge you share.

I may not have the grades, but I do have the potential.

Do not give up on me, do not look down on me.

Look at me and see that I am counting on you to help me succeed.

Look past my grade,

Look at me.
