Do you feel like a teenager?

In this day and age it’s so hard to place just how we fit into this world.

Movies and famous faces making us believe that we need to act a certain way. 

Be rebellious during school days. 

Ignore the future coming our way. 

This Hollywood propaganda is a massive scheme to mess with our dreams from the time we are children. 

Do you feel complete if you haven’t fulfilled their adolescent requirements by the time you leave this school? 

For those of us who don’t drink or vape, so what if we’re clean? 

The media always makes it seem like we’re missing out. 

Have you dreamt about being prom queen? 

Prom king? 

If not for those teen films, would we even consider that role to be a goal? 

I don’t know. 

All I know is this: movies directed toward teens are formatted to influence our dreams. 

They romanticize this delicate time in our lives, making it feel like we need to be in a relationship to survive. 

Why aren’t you dating? 

Why are you waiting? 

Why do we have to decide? 

For all of the teenagers out there who feel scared and unprepared because these movies and shows have given us unrealistic portrayals of our lives, I see you there. 

It’s okay to feel that way. 

You’re not alone, remember that always.
