Disappointment and Growth

When mistakes are made and all hope is gone,
When you're no longer seen with trust anymore,
The school year, tonight, is said and done,
All opportunities have closed their door.

When you tried your best but you still failed
and lost all your parents' respect,
You might as well been cuffed and jailed
From how largely the situation derailed

You were once a respectable kid
So charming, happy and pure
Now because of something you never did,
It's this you must endure

You chose classes far too advanced for you
All in hopes of gaining their respect
But the load was much too heavy to do
What else did you expect?

Now you are far behind
and, trust me, it isn't your fault,
to the circumstances of this, blind
and this is the end result

It is now a year later,
people have changed and grown
you made it out better
Than you could possibly ever known

The road here was tough
A freshman in college you'll be
you've worked hard enough
I'm proud that you are me
