The Disagreement
It all starts with a disagreement
A word that didn’t just sound right
You try to explain
Try to have them see your side of the story
Minds begin to brew
Assuring you that something (if not everything) is askew
Then, like a gun, you turn the safety off
You slide a bullet into place
Line up your sights on who is the target
And then, you pull the trigger
Eyes are widened, mouths left wide-open
At the things you say
Click-click
You’re running out of things to say
Your chamber of a mind is empty
Meanwhile, everyone is gun shy
Hearts pounding, afraid to come close to you
This poem is about:
Me
Our world
