The Definition of the "L" word
It's everywhere.
In every single
Movie,
Media Source,
and Book.
There's always so much pressure
to be in love and to love.
If you don't then,
it's the biggest catastrophe on the planet.
I want to just take a minute
and think about what love truly is.
Is it at first sight?
Or does it have to take a long time to bloom?
Is it more open and outspoken?
Or hidden in our hearts waiting to burst out?
Is it possible to never feel love,
to never feel a sensation of caring?
Is love caring about someone so much
that you will protect them
even if it means giving up your own life?
I know that no one can ever described the truth
about the "dreaded L" word
but I'm going to try with this:
Love is something that takes time to grow.
It does not happen automatically
It can't happen just toward any
random person.
It has to be someone who you care about.
Someone who will never let go of
and you are confident that they will never let go of you
Love is not being ashamed to care for someone:
to be able to confess your love to the world.
Love is simply giving your whole self to another person
trusting that they will take care of you.
While all of this is the pure embodiment of Love,
one thing is certain:
in order to love someone else,
you must learn to love yourself.
