Dear Death,
To you I've never cowered under
Yet casualties of those I love
Will tear my life asunder
A loss I dread
and tears that spread
Too often I imagine this
Though I know what comes is only bliss
You are greedy as I am rigid
Yet I hope to make amends
With this fear that is so frigid
Flowers come and go each season
To flinch at death I have no reason
And so I will say
To my family as they fade away,
To life there is no end
Soon I will see you
Perhaps as my best friend
