Dear Gum

Location

I bought a pack of chewing gum,

last Thursday at the store.

And when I tried to take a piece,

you fell out on the floor.

I looked at you,

you looked at me,

As I began to drool.

I knew I couldn’t leave you there,

for it was time for school.

I scooped you up,

unwrapped you fast,

and popped you in to chew.

You seemed surprised and even shocked,

but then I thought you knew.

How much I love to chew on gum,

it gives me such a thrill.

For every time I’m offered some,

I’m certain that I will.
