Dear Derynn

You are my wet paint, on new house walls

Not yet set but still looks so pretty

You are the dripping paint hanging from the ceiling

Not yet dry, but still glimmering in the night sky

I know that this paint will dry soon

And when it does our house will be ready to be lived in

I’ve been watching these walls dry for so long

Trying hard to not let anything mess up this wet paint

When our walls are finally dry

I will push a couch in the living room

With my secrets tucked under the pillows

And let you sit on them

I will hang my insecurities on the walls

like pictures of myself

And watch how you admire them

I will light the fireplace with my emotions

And let you warm yourself with the flames

I will fill the bookshelves with stories of myself

And read them to you every day

I will line the stitching of our blankets with my soul

And admire how it looks so good so close to you

I will make this house our home
