Deadly Blow

She told him no
He took it as yes
She wanted to leave him
She felt like a mess

Words would come out
Full of lies and hate
How could she have known
It'd start with one date

What happened to him?
He started off sweet
Kind words, a gentle touch
Everyone wanted to meet

The fists soon came out
The slaps and hits
The black and blue bruises
She couldn't even sit

All the threats
All the lies
She just couldn't take it
She needed a disguise

Questions were asked
He made her lie too
She had to cover up
All the black and the blue

Awake throught the night
Afraid to move an inch
Every movement he made
Made her whole body flinch

Could she leave him for good?
Could she escape?
Could she leave him for good?
The punches? The rape?

"I love you," he'd say
"You're so worthless, you bitch."
"You'll never leave me."
"I'll find you if you snitch."

"I'm sorry baby."
"It won't happen again."
"Behave, never leave".
He'd warn, "Don't ever talk to men."

One night it finally happened
She felt the pain and saw blood red
She took the pistol from the safe
And pressed it to her head

'Just one blow...
That's all it will take....
To leave this basterd and this life....
No more nightmares, I'll be awake.'

The echo reached
The neighbors ears
Police were called
In sadness and fear

They slowly entered
The bedroom upstairs....

With him on the floor....
....her face full of tears

She dropped the gun
Into the pools of red
And softly spoke

"He's already killed me,
So I killed him instead."
