Day to Night

Location

Canada

A spirit light, a heart unbound

A place to stand, safe from thunderclouds

A mind at rest, a heart at peace

Where home is warm, and meant to be

A harbor strong amidst the rain

A runner steady on rough terrain

A shield to withstand enemy fire

A truthful soul among the liars

Joy too bold to be disarmed by fear

Mercies flowing, sweet to the ear

Love too pure to fall in scorn

Faith unwavering and reborn

Rivers that rush with power and might

Mountains that call and reach the light

Trees steadfast and holding strong

Branches that shape a place to belong

But, as the sun has risen, alas it must set

Darkness now covers and smothers as a net

Ensnaring and trapping my deepest despairs

inside this cage, no weapon do they spare

Caring not a mite for me,

they gather round to hear me scream

A circle grows, closing in

Before a pause is seen, through the cackling din

Release my breath - they decide not to devour,

at least, not this day nor this hour

Rather, why not have some fun?

Torturing me until night is done.

This poem is about:
Me
Our world
