A Day with Green Feathers

And some were expected to show,
But their love was unsure.
We crossed over the river,
And there was no tension;
It was a day in the life.
The absence was a dividing wall,
And his amulet his attitude.
The day of a thousand carriers;
The tune too had been carried,
But the birds were opposed.
They were finished with the forest
So they stared at their reflections;
To the house of the divines
And down the urban path.
The familiar tune had returned,
And the ritual was spirited
Until the call had come
And a spirit had gone.
